AI should fit your
Not the other way around.

Bridge & Fern works with independent professionals, solo operators, and small teams who sense AI matters but don't know where to start. No hype. No vendor pressure. No enterprise pricing. Just honest guidance from someone who's spent a long time thinking about where this technology actually helps — and where it doesn't.

We're not here to sell you on AI adoption. We're here to understand how you actually work, find the places where this technology genuinely helps, and tell you honestly where it creates more problems than it solves. That's what we do.

— The Bridge & Fern approach

Built for people running real businesses

Our clients are therapists, contractors, designers, nonprofit directors, small agencies — different work, same question: where does AI actually help?

You run the business

You're a solo operator, independent professional, or small-team founder. Your hands are on the work every day. You can't waste time on the wrong tools or the wrong advice.

You've been burned before

You've bought the SaaS subscriptions. You've sat through the sales pitches. You're skeptical of hype, and rightly so. You want straight answers from someone who isn't selling software.

Your clients trust you

You hold sensitive information — client records, financials, proprietary work. You need AI that respects that trust. Privacy and discretion aren't optional features.

You sense the urgency

You know AI is changing things. You don't need convincing. What you need is a thoughtful path forward — not a firehose of tools, trends, and opinions to sort through on your own.

You want to stay in control

You don't want to hand your business over to a platform. You want to understand what you're adopting, own your data, and keep the judgment calls where they belong — with you.

You value thoughtful work

Craft matters. Relationships matter. The details matter. You want a collaborator who works the way you do — carefully, honestly, and with respect for what you've built.

Clarity first, technology second

We help you understand what AI can do for your specific situation, build a practical plan, and guide you through implementation — with care for your clients, your data, and your time.

01

AI Foundations Assessment

An honest look at where you are, what's actually possible for your specific situation, and what's worth your time and money. You leave with a clear roadmap — not a deck full of promises.

02

Workflow & Process Design

We identify specific places in your daily work where AI saves real time. Every recommendation considers what's safe, sustainable, and respectful of your clients, your data, and your judgment.

03

Tool Selection & Evaluation

Independent guidance on what's worth adopting — and what isn't. We don't sell software, don't take referral fees, and always consider privacy, vendor risk, and long-term fit.

04

AI Literacy & Training

Practical workshops for you and your team. We teach people how to think with AI, ask better questions, recognize hype, and develop real judgment about what works.

05

Implementation Support

Hands-on guidance through the learning curve — not just a kickoff meeting. We stay with you until the new workflow actually sticks, and help you avoid the expensive mistakes we've seen others make.

06

Ongoing Advisory

A sustained relationship as AI evolves. We help you adapt at a sustainable pace, separate real shifts from noise, and make confident decisions as the landscape changes.

It starts with listening

Every engagement begins the same way — by understanding your work before we talk about technology.

1

Understand your world

We learn how your work actually runs — the workflows, the friction points, the things that eat your time. No assumptions. No templates.

2

Find the real opportunities

We map where AI genuinely helps and where it creates new friction. We're not building a case for adoption — we're building an honest picture of what's actually worth your time and money.

3

Build a practical plan

A concrete roadmap with clear next steps, realistic timelines, and honest cost expectations. Something you can actually act on this week.

4

Walk with you through it

Implementation support, training, and guidance as things evolve. We're a partner — not a vendor who disappears after the invoice.

Inertia, founder of Bridge and Fern

Hi, I'm Inertia 👋

I started Bridge & Fern because most AI advice is built for companies with IT departments and six-figure software budgets — and the people who actually need honest guidance are running real businesses, leading small teams, or doing mission-driven work with no one to ask. I'm here to change that. Whether you want to scale your impact, free yourself up for the work that matters, or just go home early, I'll help you figure out where AI actually fits in your work — and where it doesn't.

I've spent years doing the kind of work that you probably know intimately — wearing every hat, managing operations end-to-end, and figuring things out as I went. I ran logistics, IT, marketing, and customer relationships for a specialty e-commerce company with a global customer base. I've taught computer literacy, privacy, and security workshops. I've been the person who fixes the thing nobody else knows how to fix. That background — combined with decades of deep, independent study across AI, human-computer interaction, infrastructure, and the systems-level thinking that connects all of it — is what Bridge & Fern is built on.

This isn't advice from someone who's only seen technology from inside a corporation. It's guidance from someone who's been on your side of the table.

You don't need a brief to reach out

Most people who contact me don't have a clear ask. "I'm not sure where to start" is a perfectly good first message.

1

Say hello

Use the contact form below, or scroll down to the Get started section. Tell me a little about your work and what's on your mind. If it helps:

Things worth mentioning
  • What kind of work do you do, and how big is your team?
  • What's prompting you to look at AI right now?
  • Specific problem, or more exploratory?
  • Any tools you've already tried?
  • Any concerns about privacy or client data?

You don't need to answer all of these. "I'm not sure where to start" is enough.

2

A real conversation

I'll respond within a day or two and we'll find 30–45 minutes to talk. No pitch deck. I'll ask questions, you'll ask questions, and we'll figure out together whether there's something worth doing.

3

A clear proposal

If there's a fit, I'll send a simple proposal: what we'd work on, how long, and what it costs. Specific scope, specific price — no "it depends."

4

We get to work

Most engagements start with a focused assessment. From there, scope depends on what you actually need — a roadmap, hands-on implementation support, or both.
